Are you an experienced Support worker who is now seeking the next step in your career? We are now recruiting for an On Call Support Officer to join our wonderful work family here at Aspirations Support. We are looking for individuals who have drive, passion and determination to make a difference to people’s lives. Your role as an On Call Support Officer means you are at the forefront of the company and you are ready to get hands on as and when required. You will provide a responsive and effective on call service for Aspirations’ Staff, service users and other stakeholders. You will report to the Senior On-Call Support Officer / Contingency – Operations Manager.

The On-call service operates on a 24-7 basis. Due to this, we are seeking fully flexible individuals who can be open to covering a range of shifts when required. In the event of there being no stand by available, the On Call Support Officer will assume the duties of the standby.

There are two types of on call role ; “on-call” (Consists of taking calls and answering/resolving queries) and standby (attending houses to cover shifts and/or provide support in the event of emergencies at short notice).

Ideally the right candidate will hold experience of working within a Support Worker role, have experience of working within challenging environments and managing stressful situations. The candidate will also hold experience of working within various settings and hold experience of working at supervision level.

 

Main responsibilities

 

  • Effectively respond to any phone calls made by staff or service users outside of regular office hours.
  • Calling and speaking with all relevant support staff
  • Liaising with appropriate approved agencies
  • In the event of alternative cover not being found, deploying stand by or alternatively if this is not possible, personally attending and covering those shifts.
  • On call staff must remain in a fit and proper state to drive and must remain within reasonable proximity to service locations in order to be able to respond to emergencies effectively and within a timely manner.
  • Must keep accurate and up to date records on Trello of all staff contacted and attended, guidance given and incidents logged. In instances where any verbal support is given a clear record of these conversations must be made and any advice should be accurately recorded.
  • In the event of there being no standby available the On Call Support Officer will assume the duties of the standby.
  • You may on occasion be required to undertake competency assessments of support staff.
  • You will under direction of your line manager and/or senior management, complete additional administration and other miscellaneous tasks as and when required and reasonably requested/directed.

We are now recruiting for a Senior Support Worker to join our wonderful work family here at Aspirations Support. We are looking for individuals who have drive, commitment, passion and determination to make a difference to people’s lives. Your role as a Senior Support Worker will require you to effectively support and lead the staff team to ensure that an outstanding quality of support is provided. You will assist the team leader or senior team leader in providing effective oversight and leadership of staff running of a particular supported living house or area of day service provision. You will be responsible with team leaders for ensuring all current and newly referred individuals receive high quality, person centred support. You will lead and support practice development within the team and will provide coaching support, guidance and competency assessment.

In order to ensure the Senior Support Worker has the opportunity to establish and maintain direct contact and involvement with those we support, an element of their role will be direct support provision. You will be responsible with team leaders for preparing and maintaining up to date support plans and co-ordinating the provision of high quality, individualised support by support staff.

You will ensure good joint working practices are established and maintained with relevant parties. A key to the job is adopting a proactive approach to achieving a positive, engaging, promotional and relationship building role with Local Authorities and all other stakeholders.

Essential Skills

· An understanding of person-centred care and support approaches, safeguarding issues and positive risk assessment.

· A good record of having successfully provided safe, effective, responsive and caring support and care to a range of individuals with learning difficulties.

· A good understanding of reflective practice as a method for identifying mistakes and informing improvements.

· A willingness to identify and guide colleagues to improve their performance.

· An effective communicator with the ability to form meaningful and effective relationships with service users and with colleagues.

Key Duties

  • To oversee the day to day running of designated services
  • To undertake physical and personal care of service users.
  • To ensure records of support provision, Care Plans, Risk assessments and all documents relating to providing a person-centred service to the individual are accurately maintained and made available.
  • To promote and maintain effective communication systems for service users.
  • To Implement and monitor the effectiveness of all service systems in the designated house according to policy and procedure.
  • Manage all finances relating to the service in accordance with financial policies and procedures.
  • To be responsible in the absence of management for the general welfare and safety of the service users, providing support and taking charge of incidents, implementing appropriate measures in an emergency.
  • To ensure work is recorded accurately and appropriately in compliance with the company requirements and that records made and personal information used are in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Provide on-site coaching and mentoring to staff.
  • To lead staff in writing, implementing and reviewing support plans which reflect the interests and wishes of the individual.
  • Identify staff training needs and plan to meet these in conjunction with the Training Manager and Team Leader.
  • To assist with maintaining contact of various professionals from the community.

Desirable Skills

· Specific knowledge of Aspirations’ service users’ strategies and needs.

· Experience of senior support responsibility.

· Experience of supporting staff/colleagues to improve their practice or experience of managing people.

Contractual Agreements

· This is a Full-time position - 40 HRS Per Week

· Your will report to the Team Leader and Senior Team Leader

· Pay Rate will be £10.00 - £10.25 PHR

· You will be expected to work across several locations within the Bristol/South Glos Boundary

· You will be required to be fully flexible with shift patterns in order to meet business needs
