Helping service users, professionals and family members across Bristol and the South Gloucestershire.

Who we are

Aspirations Support is a provider of bespoke Supported Living Services and Community Outreach Services to people with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs. From our beginnings nearly fifteen years ago, when we opened our first supported living home, we have steadily grown to a company of over 200 staff delivering these services to over 50 individuals in 21 supported living homes.

What we do for

Families are important to us and we work closely with family members and advocates so that we can benefit from their knowledge and experience.

We know that families and advocates have a lot of knowledge about their relative or friend and we welcome working with you in the planning stage and throughout the time we provide support. We will encourage regular contact, including visits, invitations to review meetings, helping with communication and defining roles and responsibilities. We will also keep you up to date with how we are supporting your relative or friend and ensure that you are involved. We also welcome your involvement more broadly in our organisation and look forward to working with you to improve overall care and support.

Supported Living Family

In order to find suitable properties for service users we set up ‘Enterprise Properties’.

Although not exclusive to Aspirations’ service users ’Enterprise’ works with property owners and developers to source suitable properties for supported living tenancies. Enterprise then provides a landlord service which is friendly to the needs of individuals with learning difficulties and mental health needs. Aspirations support individuals to assume and maintain the full rights and responsibilities of an individual tenancy. Working with our sister organisation ‘Enterprise Properties’ we will aim to find the right type of house, flat or bungalow …whether the need is to live with or without others, Aspirations can help those with learning difficulties and/or mental health support needs, take on and enjoy the full rights and securities of an individual tenancy. Our highly dedicated and flexible support team ensures effective and caring support is provided around the clock. They will support and encourage individuals to make their own choices and decisions to live full, happy, independent lives in which goals are met and achievements are celebrated.

Community Outreach Family

For individuals needing a service from home or in the community, including personal care provision, Aspirations can provide your loved one with a caring and supportive outreach service.

For individuals with mental health support needs, learning disabilities or a mixture of the two, and who need or prefer to base their support from a previously established home situation, Aspirations provides a Community Outreach Service. This team will visit at home and/or in the wider community and provide support with daily living needs on a 1-1 basis. This team delivers fantastic quality person-centred care in all shapes and sizes! From a few hours to help with a specific need over a short period of time to more intensive and extensive support to help achieve a full-scale transformation of life opportunities, this team can and will effectively assess, support and deliver positive outcomes.

Who we support

People Not Conditions

We do not believe that conditions define the person. We support adults with learning disabilities and we also support adults with mental health conditions. We support people with all levels of need; those who are ‘semi-independent’ and able to do most things for themselves and also those with more ‘complex’ needs or with more ‘severe’ conditions.

Mental Health

We support people with psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia, mood conditions such as depression or bipolar, trauma conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder and also conditions relating to substance abuse and eating disorders.

Learning Difficulties

We support people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC’s) and also people with various types of ‘syndrome’ such as Down’s syndrome (trisomy) and Williams syndrome. We support individuals ‘physical’ conditions often associated with learning disabilities such as epilepsy and cerebral palsy

Training

All of our Training is fully accredited by a range of recognised agencies, including ‘Acorn Health and Safety’ and ‘Curve Learning and Development’. There is an emphasis on providing bespoke elements in our training, with generic learning points illustrated by examples and case studies from our own experiences with our own service users. This ensures a comprehensive package of contextualised training for our staff and equips them fully to apply their learning in practice with the people they support. A Positive Learning Culture New staff receive a thorough paid induction as well as paid shadowing hours , where there is the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff before starting any lone working, signalling a commitment and investment in staff training from the outset.

We have great training facilities at our office base including a fully equipped training room as well as smaller rooms for more individual or small group work in which to provide thorough and engaging training across all mandatory and specialist areas for all our staff. Some of our training is outsourced to expert agencies but much is delivered by our own internal team of enthusiastic and dedicated trainer-trained Team Leading and Management staff. A Positive Learning Culture is in this way embedded across our organisation. Specialisms, Qualifications and Development Opportunities Specialist training and professional qualifications are identified for all staff in subjects and at levels respective to their specific roles.

All support workers are encouraged to undertake level 2 and/or 3 Health and Social Care qualifications. Team Leading and Management staff are supported to undertake level 4 and 5 qualifications in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. Administration, Finance and other clerical staff are supported to undertake relevant software training and/or relevant CIPD or other specialist administrative training and/or qualifications. We are passionate about providing these professional development opportunities to our staff, fully supporting them in gaining all the relevant skills and knowledge needed to provide outstanding quality person-centred care and support to our service users.
